Introducing: Marble Lion

Photo: Lea Grobecker

It was a pleasant surprise to open our email inbox and find a message from Marble Lion, a noise pop band out of Montreal. Unfortunately the details are slim other their Bandcamp and Tumblr pages, so I can’t really provide you with further information on the band. Their music is just creepy enough to pique our interest and we decided to offer them up to you as well.

Total Slacker Cover Grimes + Release Two 7″s + Announce Summer Tour

Total Slacker seem to be the busiest band in lo-fi indie rock these days with release of a cover track, two 7″ singles and USA tour.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have definitely heard Grimes’ track Oblivion. Total slacker have recorded their own version of the track (download / listen below).

MP3: Total Slacker – Oblivion (Grimes Cover)

Total Slacker have been Culture Addicts faves since they released Thrashin’ and Secret VHS Collection. The single is pure lo-fi genius in the vein of Sonic Youth and Brain Slime is the standout track with a catchy, twangy guitar riff and sing-a-long friendly strangely harmonic vocal. I will definitely be trying to get my hands on this 7″.

The second is the Friend Crush 7” split with fellow Brooklyners Friends will be out in late June on Sixteen Tambourine Records. We will definitely be posting more about this release when the info comes in.

Brooklyn’s Total Slacker head out on tour with their friends Night Manager for the Touch Yourself USA Tour in support of their debut LP release “Thrashin’” which was released via UK’s Marshall Teller Records. The tour hits 13 cities playing DIY house shows and venues plus a live Daytrotter Session on June 8 at 2PM CST.

Touch Yourself USA Tour Dates:

6/10 – Milwakee, WI @ Turf Club
6/12 – Bloomington, IN @ The Bishop
6/13 – Columbus, OH @ Ace Of Cups
6/14 – Baltimore, MD @ Bell Foundry w/ Weekends
6/15 – Boston, MA @ Liz Pelly’s (Secret house show)

Total Slacker is an American psych-lo-fi-garage-noise-*gaze band from Brooklyn, New York founded by Tucker Rountree and Emily Jane. Within their first year, Total Slacker released a 2 Song EP, “Crystal Necklace” on Impose Records as well as a 7” Split EP with Weird Dreams (UK), a digital single of “Secret VHS Collection,” and a full length LP, “Thrashin’” all on the UK Label Marshall Teller Records.
